Re: More Buddleia holes...

Hi Doreen

good to hear from you again. I've missed you, but I guess you, like
myself have been busy. I have been in the veggie garden seems like
forever, but I think we have just about beat the odd of ever getting
done. got lots of veggies in the freezer for the winter months.

And Doreen the only thing I can say about myself as a gardener is that
"I not hardly as bad as I ues to be". in other words I don't kill as
many plants as I use to.
I garden by the seat of my pants. if I see something that I like, I
think I just have to have it without much thought as to where I'll put
it, or it's requirements, I have a long record of trial and errors.
right now I've got several things that I have to move, because I set
them in the shade to later discover that they require full sun. I
guess because I have more shade than sun areas.
come this fall I've got a big job ahead, because I've got to rearrange
several of my plants, and I got oddles of lilies that need dividing. I
have a hard time trying to find places for my lilies, because I have so
many of them and not enough sun space. I do have some of them in
shade. they do pretty good, but would do much better in full sun.
I'm in the process of trying to find a place to get some of the
daylilies that will bloom later in the season. what I have now starts
blooming about the middle of May and I still have a few blooming right
now, but I would like to find some that will start blooming about now
and continue into the fall. There is a lady that lives about 15 miles
from me, that has a lilie farm (and you should see it when in full
bloom, I just about swoon) I plan on visiting as soon as possible. I
like to go when they are in bloom, so that I can see the colors. She
has some beautiful ones, however some of them are quite expensive. She
breeds them and names them herself. She mostly sells mail order, but
does sell locally too. I don't think she has a large local trade. but
I go when I can and have been lucky on some of my trips. One time she
was selling some by the clump, because she needed the space. some of
the clumps had 8 to 10 fans to a clump and she was selling them for
$5.00. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. My husband and I came
back home and got the pickup and I made a killing that time.
I got a problem with some of my canna's .... I was under the impression
that if you wanted to get rid of canna's you would have to beat them to
death with a stick. they are a hardy plant in my area, but for the
past several years mine hasn't done well at all. I have one that is
probable 10" tall and won't grow or bloom and I've got others that
doesn't do well either. I have one that is a beautiful color. I would
call it Orange Sherbet it's soft and creamy. It is blooming this
year, but is only about 18" + I think it's a dwarf, and you know
what I think, I'll set it in a pot next year and see what happens.
"that idea just came to me " see how it helps when you are talking to
others.

I'll say that I know a little more than I did 10 years ago, but still
experience trial and error. my nature I guess
