Dee Ann's advice is better than mine.  Especially the photo 
suggestion.  I say plant a new hedge inside your property line 
anyway, just so he has nothing to complain about in the future and 
you can choose any plant you'd like.

Jaet, was anyone home to witness his tirade other than you?  Anyone 
who could corroborate your story if need be?
