I wish I was. I've made over 500 jars of jam in the
last 2 months, selling them at work.
We had a freakish wind storm in the the PNW
which flattened everything. Oh well, the birds will
love it all, the seeds, etc.
One of my favorite fall combinations is the aster
frikartii (beautiful blue with yellow centers) backed
by a taller, yellow, daisy-flowered mum.
The shrubs are putting on their berries, the roses
their hips. The caryopteris is stunning, as always,
the barberry turning color. Purple dome aster is a
beacon in the front bed as you drive up the hill to
my house. Even the artemesias are wonderful this
time of year, all silvery and striking against their
bedfellows.
I got a good repeat from all of my delphinium, even
new ones, so I'm happy with that. I really
appreciate my mums this time of year -- all the
variety of color and style available makes them so
flexible.
One of the real stars is phystogia, or obedient
plant. Everyone who comes by goes right to it, it is
such a luminescent lavender and of course, if left
unchecked, makes quite a large stand.
How about the rest of you? That's all I've noticed in
a few quick walk-throughs I've had time for since
my jam adventure.

Hey, where is everybody? Are you all working out in
the garden?
