I pulled up all of my mint and potted it in large plastic pots. They
overwinter just fine here in zone 5b, and I don't have to worry about
runners rooting where I don't want them.
I like placing the pots (which have runners hanging over the sides) in
walkways where people are forced to brush against the foliage... Adds
something extra to the garden experience. :)
Plus, if I want fresh mint over the winter I can bring the plant in --
it will happily keep going without any dormancy...
