John,
I think it is a quite day on the internet but busy in the patches. It will
be cold and wet for Sunday in Connecticut so we will go inside to build our
greenhouses. I am planning to start my first seed in a week to 10 days. The
patch is in good shape and just waiting for some warm weather. I was debating
whether to go with 3 or 4 plants and have decided on 3......I think. Some of
the southern growers have vines while the northern growers haven't even
started yet. The plants for the northern growers tend to really kick in gear
around the end of May. My field pumpkins don't get planted until the end of
May or beginning of June. It doesn't do any good to have field pumpkins fully
ripe at the end of August. Many are wondering how El Nino will affect the
summer weather or whether it may be winding down. The South is certainly
getting battered right now.
