Hi all,
Thanks for the responses on shallots. I had thought that perhaps the heat
had caused them to push up, but I guess that wasn't the case if shallots
are also pushing up in England!
I harvested a few yesterday to cook with a risotto, and they were just
lovely -- a bit small, but pretty color, wonderful fragrance, and good
taste. I will leave the rest in the ground for now.
My new question is: should I let them flower? One or two are developing
flowers, and I'm not sure if that will affect the taste of the shallots. I
have read that chives, for example, taste better if they are not allowed to
flower.
Thanks again,
Pat
