Hi again,
For a long time now I have been looking for recipes for german Senfgurken
("mustard" pickles), and I finally found one on the internet. Now, the
recipe calls for yellow cucumbers. Does anyone know of any variety of
yellow cucumber that would be suitable for pickles? The Cook's Garden and
Territorial have something called a Lemon Cucumber, but I somehow don't
think that's it. Cook's Garden describes it as a "snacking" cucumber.
It should be noted that Senfgurken are never made from whole cucumbers.
They are made from larger cucumbers which are seeded and then cut into
cubes. How large can normal pickling cucumbers get before they are harvested?
I'm sure that the salad cucumbers I'm growing (Burpee hybrid) wouldn't be
suitable for pickling.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pat
