We really agree with this statement. I cannot think of the number of
times I have had people say that it is the time of year for pruning and
when I question them on why they are pruning the only reason they give is
that it is that time of year not that their plants actually need
attention. Pruning should be done but only for a specific goal not
because of a date on the calendar.
Basically we only prune to remove old or damaged wood, to maintain height
and shape, or to increase density and /or bloom quality.
