Forsythia Project

I'd like to plant forsythia on the 40' x 40'  bank that stretches from my
screened porch down to another 40' of bank that is public park ending at a
public biking/jogging path.  I don't know how to estimate how many shrubs I'd
need.  I need some help in estimating the number.

Then, I need either to acquire the forsythia for very little money, say from the
Arbor Day Society, or I need to acquire prunings that I can try to propagate by
starting roots in water.  Does that sound feasible?
