RE: Re: SPEC-X

Dolce is on Paul's website, under TB, but referenced there as SPEC-X.  For all we know, he had the same dilemma as Chuck and his aphylla everbloomer.

I just checked the AIS online register, since I'm about to start updating the AIS Iris Encyclopedia again today.  If I searched correctly, there are only 270 registered SPEC-X cultivars, but not all have been entered in the AIS Iris Encyclopedia as yet.

If you'd all send some photos here, both species and SPEC-X, and give me permission to use your photos on AIS Iris Encyclopedia (I'll credit you as the photographer), I'll work at adding both cultivars and photos today.

Something positive for us to do, since so many have been accessing the AIS Iris Encyclopedia lately.

OK, then we can safely say Mr. Black didn't consider Dolce a species-X.  How was it nominated then?  I thought the hybridizer had to put forth their cultivars and then the judges decided further.  Seems I am wrong, here, though.

Just another tid-bit to the whole sordid story, he, he!

While we wait for Bob's answer re the year, I just dug out my old judges handbook, a 1998 version.  SPEC-X is referenced there.
