Hello. Wondering if anyone on the siberian robin group could offer any
suggestions on a problem I am having. I recently received some siberian
divisions which I potted in a bagged growing medium (Scott's seed
starting/potting mix, basically a fine mix of vermiculite, peat etc.) to
help them establish root systems. This should be an ideal situation for
re-establishment of the root system.
My problem is this (and I experienced it last year too). It is 20 days after
potting. Some of the siberians are now showing signs of wilting and rotting!
A couple of leaf fans pulled off as rotten at base. I don't want to lose
these plants.
What can I do to save them?
What can I do to prevent this in the future? Perhaps a dip in 10% bleach
solution prior to potting? I suspect the rot may have started when I held
them in water for a couple of days prior to potting.
