Last year in May I found brevicaulis under deciduous trees next to a swamp. I brought 3 pieces home to bloom them, but they were not happy enough to bloom this year. So it looks like I'll have to wait 2 whole years from when I dug them until they bloom. I hope you'll have better luck, Chuck.

Chuck, All this sounds right but they still need to be Âflowered to be sure. The flower stalk is about an inch or two vertical from the rhizome then horizontal. I always find them under deciduous trees in a swamp, usually on a terrace, but rarely see them flower there! It does not need to be in water to thrive.
