Ouch!
Potted them up in a rich mixture. Going to put in a tub with water in
bottom. See if that helps. Outside in my location would kill them for
sure. I'm a full 3 half zones colder
Ministry official told me bloom in established population is very
sparse and often miss a year. Less then five blooms in a population of
over two hundred , for example, in a good year.

Last year in May I found brevicaulis under deciduous trees next to a
swamp. I brought 3 pieces home to bloom them, but they were not happy
enough to bloom this year. So it looks like I'll have to wait 2 whole
years from when I dug them until they bloom. I hope you'll have better
luck, Chuck.

Chuck, All this sounds right but they still need to be Âflowered to be
sure. The flower stalk is about an inch or two vertical from the
rhizome then horizontal. I always find them under deciduous trees in a
swamp, usually on a terrace, but rarely see them flower there! It does
not need to be in water to thrive.
